The next day after my birthday we went to Makara Walkway. The track begins along the beach and climbs up gently to the WWII gun emplacements and wind turbines. Even though it was almost summer, it's usually cold along Wellington's coastal areas. It was bloody windy at the top; no wonder it was a good idea to place the turbines up there!

The clouds were setting in so we made a move and returned the same way back to Karori.
