A rest day after four days of exertion. Treated ourselves to the Morere hot springs ($14 pp) to soak away our fatigue and body aches. Went for a dip in all the hot pools of varying temperatures and there is a cold swimming pool as well if it's too hot. Showered at Morere before leaving as the next campsite does not have any shower facilities. It was a scenic drive to Opoutama Beach; the rugged coastline of Mahia Peninsula blew us away. We were the first to arrive and took our time to decide where to set up the tent. It was windy af; almost wanted to try and cook inside the car but was afraid car might explode. Relatively good sleep no sandflies and itching less. Overall a pleasant stay at this free campground.
