Mongolia Puff

While waiting in the vehicle with three travellers from France...

French Guy: Do you like wushu?
Him: Yeah. (Waves hands in martial art motion)
French Guy: No no. Not that wushu. Wushu!
Us: (Blank look)
French Gal 1: What?! You don't know what's wushu?
French Gal 2: It's like sushi in Japan or pizza in Italy. You must try.

Crispy vegetable khuushuur

Khuushuur ('k' silent) is a staple food in Mongolia. It's a soft or crispy pastry with (usually) minced meat or (sometimes) vegetable fillings. Crazy khuushuur fans told our hosts to take us to the stall that sells the best khuushuur in town and they bought four pieces each. When it was my turn to order, I decided to increase from two to three pieces for the two of us to share and we couldn't finish them. Too oily and sickening... Just get one for a start.
